Detroit Assurance is an industry-leading truck safety system that helps mitigate potential collisions and protect drivers – and, ultimately, maximizes fleet uptime.

The system uses a high-definition camera and radar to communicate with the anti-lock braking system, engine and transmission in real time. It can simultaneously monitor up to 40 objects and can efficiently identify the top six threats by refreshing 200 times per second.

This technology powers a wide range of Detroit Assurance features, but here are a few highlights:

• Active Brake Assist 5 (ABA 5) uses the front camera and radar to help trucks mitigate potential collisions with vehicles and moving pedestrians via warnings, partial and full braking.

• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to 0 MPH utilizes the front camera and radar to automatically adjust a truck's cruising speed to maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles.

• Lane Departure Warning (LDW) uses the front-mounted camera to monitor lane markers. It keeps a truck between the lines by notifying the driver if they drift into another lane without signaling.

• Side Guard Assist (SGA) incorporates a side-mounted radar to issue audio-visual warnings that can help keep drivers aware of objects and pedestrians in their truck’s passenger-side blind spot.
